Frequently Asked Questions

Check common questions first

What's the difference between pain medicine and rehabilitation medicine?
Pain medicine focuses on diagnosing and treating pain itself — chronic pain, neuralgia — using medication and nerve blocks. Rehabilitation medicine focuses on restoring physical function through manual therapy and exercise therapy to support return to daily life.
Is manual therapy effective?
Effectiveness is proven for musculoskeletal pain and posture correction. Performed directly by qualified physical therapists, typically 30–40 minutes per session. Usually 8–12 sessions are needed as part of conservative treatment.
Can chronic pain be cured?
It depends on the cause, but chronic pain is approached as 'management'. The goal is to control pain to a level that doesn't interfere with daily life, using a multi-pronged approach: medication, injections, manual therapy, exercise, and psychotherapy.
What is a nerve block procedure?
A procedure that blocks pain by injecting medication into the nerve at the painful area. Effective for herniated discs, post-herpetic neuralgia, joint pain, etc. Takes about 5–15 minutes; daily activities can resume immediately afterward.
Is rehabilitation therapy covered by insurance?
Basic physical therapy is covered by national health insurance with low out-of-pocket costs. Manual therapy and ESWT are non-covered; private indemnity insurance coverage depends on the policy. Check directly with your insurer.
