This method is effective for middle-aged obese people. A study found that an online weight management program was effective in helping middle-aged women who were overweight or obese lose weight. Being overweight or obese can lead to serious health problems, including an increased risk of conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, and cancer. A research team at the University of Missouri-Columbia conducted a meta-analysis of studies from 2000 to 2019 to compare the effectiveness of weight loss methods for middle-aged adults with overweight or obesity. The analysis included studies targeting middle-aged adults (ages 35-55) with overweight or obesity who participated in online weight management programs for at least six months. The analysis revealed that specific features of online weight management programs were effective in promoting long-term weight loss and maintenance in middle-aged adults.
