Would it be more helpful to take wider strides when walking?

It felt quite different when I just walked compared to when I took a wider stride.
When I widened my stride, my front and back thighs felt a bit tighter, so it felt like I was getting a better workout.
I especially like the pulling sensation in my thighs, so I sometimes take wider strides.
Will this help me lose some thigh fat?
