Is it important to stick to consistent meal times when dieting?

I heard that it is good to eat at around the same time every day.
On the other hand, there is also an opinion that only the type and quantity of food matter.
I'm curious if meal timing actually affects weight management.
There must be many people whose meal times are irregular due to work or school. How would you recommend managing this?
