In winter, the air becomes dry, making hair look dull and brittle. If your hair still doesn't look healthy despite brushing enough, try changing your usual diet or daily habits just a little.

 

Adequate intake of vitamin B complex, unsaturated fatty acids, and vitamin E

 

It is good to regularly consume foods rich in B vitamins. B vitamins are representative nutrients that make hair shiny and healthy. For example, vitamin B12 is involved in the production of red blood cells, and when red blood cell production is good, hair follicles also become healthy, leading to better hair growth. Vitamin B9 is involved in cell division, including hair follicle cells. In fact, research by the Nutrition Education Research Team at the Graduate School of Education, Korea National University of Education, shows that a deficiency in B vitamins and protein intake can lead to hair loss.

Green leafy vegetables like spinach are particularly rich in B vitamins.


Unsaturated fats and vitamin E should also be consumed adequately. These two help promote blood circulation and facilitate the smooth supply of nutrients to the scalp.

 

Vitamin E is abundant in plant oils such as corn oil and soybean oil, nuts, and asparagus. Unsaturated fatty acids are rich in mackerel, salmon, avocado, and black beans. In particular, black beans are rich in both vitamin E and unsaturated fatty acids, making them very beneficial for hair.

 

Wash your hair with lukewarm water and use a treatment.

 

You need to pay attention to your daily habits as much as what you eat. Changing the habit of washing your hair with hot water alone can make your hair less frizzy. Washing hair with hot water causes the scalp and hair to become more dry. Always wash your hair with lukewarm water, and rinse with cold water at the end. Cold water helps strengthen the hair cuticles and improves hair texture.

 

Sometimes using a hair treatment is also an effective method. Unlike conditioner, a treatment directly supplies nutrients to the hair. If applied to wet hair, the product will not be absorbed well. Squeeze out as much water as possible from the hair or roughly towel-dry it before applying. After applying, wait for 2 minutes to allow the nutrients in the product to be evenly absorbed into the hair.
