My teeth get sensitive only when I drink cold water. Is it possible to experience this even without cavities?

For some time now, one of my molars feels momentarily sensitive when I drink cold water.

I get better quickly, and usually I feel fine, so
At first, I didn't think it was a big deal, but lately I've been feeling it a bit more often.

I checked in the mirror thinking I might have a cavity, but I don't see anything in particular.

Sometimes I feel a slight sensitivity on the same side even when brushing my teeth.
I had all sorts of thoughts, wondering if my teeth had become sensitive or if my gums had receded.

I'm wondering if a dentist can identify the cause of this sensitivity.

If anyone has been tested for similar symptoms, I would appreciate it if you could let me know what the cause was.
