I work in an office and frequently answer phone calls. As a result, I keep getting inflammation in my earlobes, and sometimes pus builds up.

My earlobe frequently gets bumped when I answer the phone, so I get inflammation often. Sometimes, when pus builds up, I squeeze it out and apply ointment, which helps a little, but the cycle keeps repeating. Someone told me it is a sebaceous cyst and advised me to go to the hospital for surgery. I would appreciate any advice from those who have had a similar experience on which approach is correct.
