Treatment of peripheral and central neuropathic pain, as an adjunctive treatment for partial seizures in epilepsy, improvement of fibromyalgia
This medication is used to treat peripheral and central neuropathic pain in adults. It is also utilized as an adjunct for partial seizures in epilepsy patients. Additionally, it is effective in alleviating symptoms of fibromyalgia. In summary, this medication is used for the treatment of neuropathic pain, partial seizures in epilepsy, and fibromyalgia.
This medication is pregabalin and is administered orally in total daily doses divided into two doses regardless of food. 1. Neuropathic pain - Peripheral neuropathic pain: Starting dose of 150 mg per day, may be increased to 300 mg per day after 3 to 7 days, and if necessary, may continue to be increased up to 600 mg at 7-day intervals. - Central neuropathic pain: Starting dose of 150 mg per day, after one week may be increased to 300 mg per day.
The safety and efficacy data for patients under 12 years of age and adolescents aged 12-17 are insufficient; therefore, administration is not recommended.
This medication may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or behaviors; therefore, if there are any changes in mood or unusual behavior during treatment, consult a doctor immediately. Do not use this medication if you are allergic to any of the components or have specific genetic lactose intolerance disorders. Diabetes patients should be cautious as weight gain may require adjustments in blood sugar control medications. If severe allergic reactions such as angioedema occur, discontinue the medication immediately and inform healthcare personnel. Elderly patients may experience dizziness, drowsiness, or confusion while taking this medication, so caution is advised, and driving or operating dangerous machinery should be avoided in such instances. This medication may cause temporary blurred vision or visual changes, so consult a doctor if you experience any vision abnormalities. If this medication is suddenly discontinued, withdrawal symptoms like insomnia, headache, and anxiety may arise, so tapering off should be done according to the doctor's instructions. There is a risk of drug abuse; thus, patients with a history of drug abuse or mental illness should be particularly cautious. Patients with reduced kidney function may require dose adjustments, and those with heart disease should use this medication with caution. When combined with other medications that have central nervous system depressant effects, the risk of respiratory depression may increase, so inform healthcare personnel about all medications taken and exercise caution. In early pregnancy, it may affect the fetus, so women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should consult a doctor before use and ensure effective contraceptive methods are used. Breastfeeding women should consult a doctor regarding the use of this medication since it can be transmitted through breast milk and may affect the baby. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as confusion, drowsiness, and depression may occur; treatment may include blood dialysis if necessary. Store this medication out of reach of children and take care not to transfer it to other containers for safety.
Hives, severe swelling (edema), angioedema, facial swelling, swelling around the mouth and upper respiratory tract, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe rash accompanied by fever, blisters, exfoliation of skin, pain of oral/ocular mucosa, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, dyspnea, asthma attacks, respiratory distress accompanied by coughing and fever, pulmonary edema, jaundice (yellowing of skin or eyes), profound lethargy throughout the body

This medication must be stored in a well-sealed container to prevent exposure to air and moisture, ideally at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius. Doing so will help maintain its efficacy and prevent degradation.
