Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with acute abdominal diseases, bowel obstruction, or gastrointestinal strictures. Additionally, women who are allergic to this medication, pregnant or potentially pregnant women, and nursing mothers should not take this medication. Patients with severe abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting, or those taking other medications should use this medication cautiously. If severe abdominal pain, diarrhea, or vomiting occurs while taking this medication, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor or pharmacist. Long-term use of high doses may lead to a deficiency of electrolytes in the body, particularly potassium, so caution is advised. It is essential to adhere to the prescribed method of administration and dosage, and if constipation does not improve after multiple doses, discontinue use and consult a professional. Caution is necessary when taking this medication in conjunction with cardiac glycosides, as chronic use may lead to a potassium deficiency that can potentiate the effects of cardiac glycosides. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, away from direct sunlight, and in a cool, dry place. Additionally, to prevent misuse and maintain the quality of the medication, it should not be transferred to another container from its original packaging. This medication is an irritant laxative, and prolonged use may lead to the development of tolerance, making constipation worse, so it is advised not to use for more than one week. If there is a need to take laxatives daily, the underlying cause of constipation should be identified.
