Precautions
This medication is an antibiotic with sodium fusidate as its main ingredient, used to treat infections caused by specific bacteria. This medication should not be used in patients who have had allergic reactions to fusidic acid or its salts. Additionally, it should not be administered in cases of urinary tract Staphylococcus infection that are not caused by kidney disease. Patients with impaired liver function should use this medication with caution. During treatment, gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, decreased appetite, and abdominal pain may occur; in rare cases, allergic reactions such as a reduction in blood cell counts, liver function abnormalities, or skin rashes may arise. To prevent the occurrence of resistant bacteria, it is advisable to conduct susceptibility testing and use this medication for the minimum necessary duration. For high doses or prolonged use, regular liver function tests are important. Especially in infants or premature babies, and in infants with jaundice, caution is required; dosage adjustment is not necessary in cases where the drug is mostly excreted through bile and in patients with impaired kidney function. Interactions with other medications should also be monitored, as concomitant use with anticoagulants, certain antibiotics, statins, HIV treatment drugs, etc., may increase the risk of changes in serum concentration or adverse effects, so consulting a doctor is necessary. For women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, this medication can cross the placenta, so it should only be used when the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks. In breastfeeding cases, this medication may be excreted in breast milk, necessitating cessation of breastfeeding or cautious administration. Children, especially premature or newborn infants, have immature liver function and should be closely monitored for liver function status during use. In cases of overdose, symptoms may include elevated liver enzyme levels, jaundice, abdominal discomfort, and diarrhea; in such instances, symptomatic treatment should be administered and dialysis is not recommended. When used in topical ointment or adhesive form, attention should be given to allergic reactions or the occurrence of resistant bacteria, and it should not be used around the eyes or for ophthalmic purposes. If symptoms such as itching, redness, swelling, or rash develop during use, discontinue immediately and consult a specialist. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, and after opening, it should be used as soon as possible; any remaining medication should be discarded for safety.
