Precautions

This medication should be handled with great care when cutting the container of glass ampules to avoid contamination with glass fragments, which can cause adverse reactions. Extra caution is required when used in children or the elderly. It should not be administered to patients with hypersensitivity to this medication or who have previously shown allergic reactions to this medication or its components. In addition, patients taking dofetilide should not use this medication together due to increased risk of heart arrhythmias. This medication contains lactose and should not be administered to patients with lactose intolerance or specific metabolic disorders. Patients with impaired renal or liver function may have increased blood concentration of this medication; therefore, they should use it cautiously by reducing the dose or extending the intervals between doses. Elderly patients, children under 19 years, and patients undergoing hemodialysis should also be cautious, and especially since symptoms of gastric cancer can be masked, it should only be used after confirming malignancy. This medication includes Yellow No. 4 (tartrazine) dye, and should be used with caution in patients allergic to this component. While taking this medication, rare side effects such as decreased blood cell count, liver dysfunction, renal function impairment, hypersensitivity reactions, endocrine symptoms, gastrointestinal symptoms, neurological symptoms, and skin reactions may occur. If these symptoms appear, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. If therapeutic effects are not observed or adverse reactions are suspected, alternative treatments may be considered; patients with a history of peptic ulcers, elderly patients, or those with chronic diseases should undergo regular monitoring. This medication can interact with various drugs; therefore, patients taking other medications must inform their healthcare provider, particularly when combined with anticoagulants, anticonvulsants, cardiac medications, or antibiotics. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully consider the benefits and risks of using this medication. Nursing mothers are advised to discontinue breastfeeding while using this medication. Safety in children has not been sufficiently established; it should only be used in necessary cases, and elderly patients may require dose adjustments considering renal function declines. In cases of overdose, severe symptoms such as respiratory depression may occur, necessitating immediate medical attention for appropriate treatment. When used as an injection, rapid intravenous administration may lead to arrhythmias or decreased blood pressure, so it should be infused slowly. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and it is important to avoid transferring the medication to another container to maintain its quality.
