Precautions

This drug should not be administered to patients with a history of hypersensitivity to penicillins or cephalosporins as it is a beta-lactam antibiotic. Caution is required for patients with viral infections such as infectious mononucleosis and lymphocytic leukemia, as the risk of rash may increase. Patients with a history of liver dysfunction or jaundice due to this drug or penicillin should avoid use due to the risk of recurrence. Patients with impaired liver function or severe renal impairment may have increased drug levels, so dosing intervals should be adjusted or careful monitoring should be performed. Patients with allergies or gastrointestinal symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea should also exercise caution when taking this drug. This drug may cause gastrointestinal adverse reactions such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, and vomiting, and in severe cases may lead to pseudomembranous colitis, so it is important to stop taking it immediately in case symptoms occur. Rarely, liver function abnormalities may appear, and regular liver function tests should be conducted for the elderly or during prolonged usage. Skin rashes, itching, and severe skin reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome may occur, so immediate medical attention is required if symptoms develop. Blood-related adverse reactions such as transient leukopenia or anemia have been reported, so monitoring is necessary if abnormal symptoms occur. Rarely, neurological symptoms such as headache, dizziness, and seizures may occur, so immediate reporting is necessary if neurological symptoms arise. Patients with renal function issues may suffer kidney damage and require regular check-ups, with discontinuation of use if symptoms appear. This drug may affect the balance of intestinal bacteria, leading to candida infections or stomatitis, and treatment is necessary if such symptoms arise. There is a risk of bleeding due to vitamin K deficiency, so elderly patients or those at risk of vitamin deficiency should be cautious. This drug may interact with other medications, especially anticoagulants, probenecid, and allopurinol, so consultation with a specialist is necessary when used in combination. Use should be avoided during the first three months of pregnancy, and women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should carefully weigh the risks and benefits of using this drug. It is not recommended for children under 12 years of age or weighing less than 40 kg. Due to decreased physical function, elderly patients may experience adverse reactions more easily, so dosage and administration intervals should be adjusted and closely monitored. Some clinical test results, such as urine glucose tests, may be distorted while taking this medication, so it is important to inform the physician during examinations. In case of overdose, gastrointestinal symptoms, renal impairment, and allergic reactions may occur, and immediate discontinuation and appropriate treatment are necessary. This medication should be stored in a dry place below 25 degrees, and to prevent the occurrence of resistant bacteria during prolonged use, it is advisable to use it for the shortest duration necessary.
