Precautions

This medication should not be used by individuals who are allergic to fusidic acid or its salts. It is also recommended to avoid using this drug in individuals with Staphylococcus aureus infections in the urinary tract. Patients with poor liver function should be cautious when using this medication. Prolonged or excessive use of this drug may lead to gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, reduced appetite, gastric pain, abdominal pain, and dyspepsia. Blood-related issues such as granulocytopenia, thrombocytopenia, and bone marrow suppression may occur, so caution is required. It may burden the liver, and high-dose, prolonged use may rarely lead to jaundice, which can be resolved by reducing the dosage. Allergic reactions such as skin rashes may also rarely occur, so symptoms should be closely monitored. To prevent the development of resistant bacteria, it is advisable to confirm bacterial susceptibility and use the minimum necessary duration. Individuals with liver dysfunction or those receiving prolonged high-dose treatment should undergo regular liver function tests. Caution is needed when administering this drug to newborns or prematurely born infants, as well as to those with jaundice or acidosis. This medication is primarily excreted via bile, so dosage adjustment is not necessary for patients with poor kidney function. When used alongside other antibiotics, anticoagulants, statins, or HIV treatments, potential drug interactions may occur, so consultation with a specialist is advised. Pregnant women should use this medication only when absolutely necessary as it can pass through the placenta, and breastfeeding individuals should discontinue breastfeeding and use it with caution. Use in premature infants or newborns requires careful monitoring of liver function. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as elevated liver enzyme levels, jaundice, abdominal discomfort, and diarrhea may occur, and treatment should be initiated as appropriate; dialysis is not recommended. For topical ointments or plasters, individuals who are allergic to fusidic acid or have Pseudomonas infections should not use this medication. Care should be taken to avoid long-term use over large areas, and if symptoms such as itching, rashes, swelling, or blisters develop, use should be discontinued immediately. It is safe to avoid using around the eyes or eyelids. Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should consult a specialist before use, and extra caution is required for premature infants or newborns. If symptoms such as rash, pain, or irritation occur during use, discontinue immediately and consult healthcare professionals.
