This medication is used for the treatment of neurological disorders, and may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or behaviors in patients; therefore, patients and caregivers should closely monitor for such symptoms. It should not be taken by those who are allergic to any component contained in this drug, nor should it be administered to patients with certain genetic disorders. Diabetic patients should be cautious as dosage adjustments of blood sugar control medications may be necessary due to potential weight gain. If any symptoms of hypersensitivity (such as angioedema) appear, the medication should be discontinued immediately, and elderly patients should be particularly careful during the initial stages of treatment due to the risk of injury from dizziness or drowsiness. This medication can cause visual changes, such as blurred vision; if symptoms persist, consult a physician. Discontinuation of this medication should not be done abruptly, as withdrawal symptoms like insomnia, headache, and anxiety may occur, and should instead be adjusted gradually according to a doctor's instructions. Furthermore, due to the risk of drug abuse, patients with a history of mental illness or substance abuse should be especially cautious when taking this medication. Patients with impaired kidney function may require dose adjustments, and those with cardiovascular disease should also exercise caution. When used in conjunction with opioid analgesics, there may be an increased risk of central nervous system depression; therefore, consult a physician if taking these medications together. This medication can cause dizziness and drowsiness, so caution is needed when driving or operating hazardous machinery. In early pregnancy, it may affect the fetus, and pregnant women should generally avoid taking this medication, while women of childbearing age should use effective contraception. Breastfeeding women should consult a doctor regarding the use of the medication, as it may be transmitted through breast milk. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as confusion, drowsiness, and depression may occur, and treatments such as hemodialysis may be necessary if needed.
