This medication is used in adults for the treatment of peripheral and central neuropathic pain. It is also used as an adjunctive therapy for partial seizures, whether secondary generalization occurs or not. Additionally, it helps alleviate the symptoms of fibromyalgia. In summary, this medication is used to effectively improve the symptoms of various neurological diseases.
This medication is administered orally, divided into two doses per day, regardless of food intake. 1. Neuropathic Pain 1) Peripheral Neuropathic Pain - Starting dose: 150 mg once a day - After 3-7 days: can increase to 300 mg once a day - Then can increase to a maximum of 600 mg once a day at 7-day intervals 2) Central Neuropathic Pain - Starting dose: 150 mg once a day - After 1 week: 300 mg once a day.
This medication may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviors, so if depression or mood changes occur during treatment, consult a physician immediately. This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to it or specific genetic lactose intolerance. Diabetic patients should be careful as weight gain may require adjustments to their blood sugar control medication. If allergic reactions such as angioedema occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare professional. Elderly patients may experience symptoms such as dizziness, drowsiness, or confusion, so caution is especially needed during the initial period of use. If visual disturbances or changes in vision occur, discontinue the medication or consult a physician. Abrupt discontinuation of this medication may lead to withdrawal symptoms such as insomnia, headache, and anxiety, so it should be gradually reduced following a physician's instructions. Patients with a history of substance abuse may have a higher risk of misuse of this medication and should be cautious in its use. Dose adjustment may be necessary for patients with impaired kidney function. Patients with heart disease should exercise caution when using this medication, especially those with congestive heart failure who require careful administration. When used in combination with central nervous system depressants or opioid analgesics, the risk of respiratory depression may increase, so caution is advised. In the early stages of pregnancy, there may be a risk of fetal malformation, so pregnant women should not take this medication, and women of childbearing age should use effective contraception. Breastfeeding women should note that this medication can be passed through breast milk, and they should either stop breastfeeding or consult a physician. Avoid hazardous activities such as driving or operating machinery until dizziness or drowsiness symptoms have resolved after taking this medication. In case of overdose, symptoms such as confusion, drowsiness, or seizures may occur, requiring immediate emergency treatment. This medication should be kept out of reach of children and should not be stored in a different container. If severe side effects such as skin rash, fever, or shortness of breath occur during treatment, discontinue use immediately and inform a healthcare professional.
Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe rash with fever, blisters, peeling skin, pain in mucous membranes of mouth/eyes, wheezing or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory abnormalities with cough+fever, jaundice (yellowing of skin or eyes), extreme lethargy, sudden and severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures, disorientation, visual disturbances, paralysis, urinary symptoms.

This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to prevent exposure to air or moisture. It is recommended to maintain a storage temperature between 15 to 30 degrees Celsius. This will help keep the medication's efficacy and safety for a long period.
