Precautions

This medication must not be mixed or injected simultaneously with solutions containing calcium. Especially, it should not be administered to newborns due to the risk of precipitation when calcium combines with this drug. Patients who are allergic to this drug or its components or have had hypersensitivity reactions to cephalosporins or penicillin antibiotics should not use this medication. Furthermore, caution is required for those with allergies to certain local anesthetics. Patients with severe kidney disease or allergic tendencies should use this medication carefully, adjusting the dose or increasing the administration interval as necessary. Use of this medication may lead to side effects such as diarrhea, rash, abnormal liver function, and decreased blood cell counts, therefore, if abnormal symptoms occur, patients must inform medical staff immediately. Rarely, severe allergic reactions, neurological abnormalities, hepatitis, and decreased kidney function may occur, so the patient's condition should be continuously monitored while receiving treatment. This medication should be administered cautiously to pregnant or nursing women, and particularly, it should not be given to newborns and premature infants due to the risk of bilirubin encephalopathy. Regular liver and kidney function tests and blood tests are recommended during treatment. Since there is no specific antidote for overdose, symptomatic treatment is necessary. Dizziness and other side effects may occur during driving or operating machinery, so caution is advised. There may be interactions with other drugs; patients must disclose any medications they are taking, especially avoiding simultaneous use with calcium supplements or certain antibiotics. During storage, use the medication as soon as possible after preparation and avoid using calcium-containing solutions for dilution.
