Relief of peripheral and central neuropathic pain, adjunctive treatment for partial seizures, improvement of fibromyalgia
This medication is used to relieve peripheral and central neuropathic pain in adults. It is also utilized as an adjunctive treatment for partial seizures in epilepsy patients, both with and without secondary generalized symptoms. Additionally, it is effective for the treatment of fibromyalgia symptoms. In other words, it helps improve symptoms of neuropathic pain and various neurological diseases.
This medication, which contains pregabalin, is taken orally in divided doses twice daily, regardless of meals. 1. Neuropathic Pain 1) Peripheral Neuropathic Pain The starting dose is 150 mg per day, and it can be increased to 300 mg per day after 3 to 7 days. After that, it can be increased to a maximum of 600 mg per day at 7-day intervals. 2) Central Neuropathic Pain
Safety and efficacy data for pediatric patients under 12 years of age and adolescents aged 12-17 is insufficient, so administration is not recommended.
This medicine may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviors, so if symptoms of depression, mood changes, or abnormal behavior occur during treatment, you should consult a doctor immediately. This medicine should not be taken by those who are allergic to its ingredients or have specific genetic lactose intolerance disorders. Diabetes patients should be cautious as weight gain may necessitate dose adjustments for blood sugar control. If symptoms of angioedema appear, discontinue this medication immediately and notify healthcare professionals. Elderly patients are at higher risk of falls due to dizziness or drowsiness, so special caution is required during initial use. Visual changes such as blurred vision may occur, and if such symptoms appear, it is advisable to consult a doctor. Abrupt discontinuation of this medication can result in withdrawal symptoms, including insomnia, headaches, and anxiety, so the dosage should be gradually reduced according to a doctor's instructions. Patients with a history of drug abuse should take this medication cautiously due to the potential for misuse and dependency. Dose adjustments may be required in cases of reduced kidney function. Patients with severe heart disease should exercise caution when taking this medication. There is a risk of central nervous system depression when taken in conjunction with opioid analgesics, so caution is needed if taken together. Patients with respiratory or neurological diseases, and the elderly, are at risk of severe respiratory depression and may require dose adjustments and monitoring. In the early stages of pregnancy, there is a risk of fetal malformations, so pregnant women or those planning to become pregnant should definitely consult a doctor before taking this medication and should use effective contraception. During breastfeeding, this medication can pass into breast milk and affect infants, so it is important to discuss with a doctor whether to stop breastfeeding or discontinue the medication. Caution is needed when driving or operating machinery as dizziness and drowsiness may occur. If skin rashes, fever, or severe allergic reactions occur while taking this medication, withhold it immediately and notify healthcare professionals. Overdose may result in confusion, drowsiness, seizures, etc., necessitating emergency treatment. Keep this medication out of reach of children and do not transfer it to another container.
