Precautions

This medication, as a beta-lactam antibiotic, should not be administered to patients with hypersensitivity reactions to penicillin or cephalosporins. For patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia, the risk of rash is increased, so it is advisable to avoid use of this medication. Patients with a history of liver dysfunction or jaundice should exercise caution due to the potential for relapse. In patients with liver impairment or moderate to severe renal impairment, the medication may remain in the body for a longer time, necessitating dose and administration interval adjustments. In the case of allergy, bronchial asthma or skin rashes may occur, so it should be administered with caution. Patients unable to take orally, the elderly, or those in poor overall condition may be at risk for bleeding due to vitamin K deficiency. Patients with gastrointestinal diseases should be cautious as drug absorption may be inadequate. This medication may cause gastrointestinal side effects such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting, and in severe cases, pseudomembranous colitis may occur, necessitating immediate discontinuation of the drug if symptoms are severe. Liver function abnormalities may occur, therefore liver function tests are necessary during prolonged use, especially in elderly patients over 60 and in men. Hypersensitivity reactions such as skin rash, urticaria, and in severe cases Stevens-Johnson syndrome or anaphylactic shock may occur; therefore, if abnormal symptoms develop, the use of the medication should be immediately discontinued, and a physician consulted. Hematological abnormalities such as leukopenia, anemia, or thrombocytopenia may rarely occur, so if there are abnormal symptoms, testing should be performed. Central nervous system adverse reactions such as irritability, anxiety, confusion, and convulsions may rarely occur, and patients with impaired renal function should be particularly cautious. Patients with decreased renal function may develop acute renal failure or nephritis, so regular kidney function tests are necessary. This medication may interact with other drugs; therefore, it is essential to inform healthcare providers of any concurrent medications, especially when taken with anticoagulants or other antibiotics. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should avoid administration during the first three months, and nursing mothers should observe infants as side effects may occur. Not recommended for children under 12 years of age or under 40 kg in weight. Elderly patients may experience side effects more readily due to decreased physiological function, so dosage and administration intervals should be adjusted and used with caution. In cases of overdose, gastrointestinal symptoms and renal failure, as well as convulsions may occur, so treatment should be discontinued immediately and appropriate medical attention sought. This medication should be stored in a closed container to prevent moisture, and kept in a dry place below 25 degrees Celsius. It's important to consult a physician immediately if any abnormal symptoms occur during use.
