Precautions

This medication is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic used for treating specific bacterial infections. Serious side effects such as tendonitis or tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, central nervous system effects, and worsening of myasthenia gravis may occur, so caution is required. If these side effects are suspected, discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare professional. It is not safe to use this medication in patients with myasthenia gravis. Additionally, this medication is only recommended for use when there are no other treatment options available for certain infections. Elderly patients, those with poor kidney function, solid organ transplant recipients, and those using concurrently with corticosteroids are at increased risk for tendon rupture and should be particularly cautious. It is advisable to avoid concurrent use with corticosteroids, and if symptoms of tendonitis or tendon rupture occur, rest and avoid vigorous exercise. This medication may increase the risk of seizures, so it should be used with caution in patients with a history of seizures or central nervous system disorders. Patients with a history of hypersensitivity to this medication or similar medications, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, growing children, and adolescents should not be given this medication. During treatment, severe allergic reactions, skin rashes, photosensitivity reactions, gastrointestinal disturbances, liver or kidney dysfunction, and blood abnormalities may occur; if any unusual symptoms occur, inform a healthcare professional immediately. This medication can interact with certain drugs, so taking it with antacids, iron supplements, or calcium supplements can reduce its effectiveness, necessitating a time gap between doses. Furthermore, when used with hypoglycemic agents or anticoagulants, there is a risk of blood sugar changes or bleeding, so caution is advised. Dizziness or drowsiness may occur when driving or operating machinery, requiring caution. In the case of overdose, central nervous system symptoms and cardiac abnormalities may occur, requiring immediate treatment. This medication is not removed by dialysis. It is important to adhere strictly to the prescribed dosage and administration as instructed by a physician during treatment, and to consult a healthcare professional promptly in case of side effects.
