Dosage and Administration Adults should take this medication in a divided dosage as follows: 1) The day before the examination Take the entire prepared solution in the early evening the day before the examination and fill an empty container with water up to the marked line (approximately 473mL) to take two additional times. 2) On the day of the examination
This medication should not be used in patients who have an allergic reaction to this drug or any of its components. It should not be administered to patients with blocked or perforated gastrointestinal tracts, those with impaired gastric motility, bowel obstruction, toxic colitis, or toxic megacolon. Patients with severe renal dysfunction, severe dehydration, ascites, or congestive heart failure should also refrain from using this medication. Caution should be exercised in patients with severely abnormal fluid or blood test results, a history of seizures or high seizure risk, arrhythmia risk, or those taking medications that may affect renal function. Patients with ulceration in the colonic mucosa or ischemic colitis, severe active ulcerative colitis, those with weak vomiting reflex or risk of aspiration should also use this medication cautiously. This medication may cause diarrhea, so adequate hydration is needed before and after administration, and if symptoms of vomiting or dehydration occur, blood tests should be performed to check electrolyte levels and kidney function. Electrolyte imbalances can cause serious side effects such as cardiac arrhythmias or seizures, so care should be taken. This medication may temporarily elevate blood uric acid levels, potentially triggering acute gout attacks in patients with gout; therefore, careful consideration should be applied to those with gout or uric acid metabolism abnormalities before administration. Patients with a high risk of cardiac arrhythmias should undergo electrocardiogram testing before and after administration of this medication. Care should be taken when taken with other medications that may affect renal function, and adequate hydration and blood tests are recommended. Taking it undiluted increases the risks of nausea, vomiting, dehydration, and electrolyte imbalances; therefore, it must be diluted in the prescribed amount of water before consumption. Due to unclear fetal effects, it should only be administered to pregnant women when the diagnostic benefits outweigh the risks, and it is unknown whether this medication is excreted in breast milk; caution is advised. Safety and efficacy in children have not been established. The elderly may be more susceptible to side effects due to a higher likelihood of impaired liver, kidney, and heart function, but clinical trials have shown no significant difference compared to younger patients. After opening or diluting, it should be consumed immediately, stored out of the reach of children, and not transferred to other containers.
