Precautions

This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame, which breaks down into phenylalanine in the body. Therefore, it should not be used in patients with the genetic disorder phenylketonuria. Additionally, it should not be administered to patients who have had allergic reactions to this medication or its ingredients. This medication contains lactose, so patients with genetic problems such as galactose intolerance, lactose enzyme deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should also not use it. Caution should be exercised when using this medication in patients taking other serotonin-related drugs. Especially when taken together with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) or serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), there is a risk of serious side effects such as serotonin syndrome. This medication can rarely cause severe allergic reactions such as shock or anaphylaxis, so if abnormal symptoms occur, usage should be immediately discontinued and the hospital should be informed. Side effects such as liver dysfunction, headache, drowsiness, constipation, and fever have also been reported. As this medication is primarily metabolized in the liver, caution is required when used with medications that can affect liver function, particularly when used in combination with fluvoxamine, as it may increase blood concentration and the risk of side effects. Pregnant or nursing women should only use this medication under the doctor's discretion when absolutely necessary, and breastfeeding is recommended to be discontinued during treatment. In children or the elderly, safety information is lacking, or they may have decreased physical functions, so it is important to consult a doctor before administration and to closely monitor their condition. This medication is to be taken orally by dissolving it in the mouth, and it is safer to use the fingertip rather than the fingernail to remove it from the packaging. Lastly, it should be stored out of reach of children, and it is advisable not to transfer it to another container.
