This medication is used for the treatment of HIV-1 infection. It is effectively used to treat HIV-1 infection in adult and adolescent patients aged 12 years and older and weighing over 35 kg, in combination with other antiretroviral agents. Additionally, it is used as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to reduce the risk of infection in high-risk HIV-1 negative individuals. Particularly, it is recommended to take this medication along with safe sex practices during sexual intercourse with partners at high risk of HIV-1 infection or in areas with high prevalence, thereby lowering the risk of infection. This medication plays a crucial role in the treatment and prevention of HIV-1 infection.
