Summary
- Main use
- Effects of supplying water, electrolytes, amino acids, and calories through intravenous nutrition.
- Who receives it
- Adults
- Adult administration
- Administered via peripheral vein. The infusion rate is determined based on total volume, characteristics of the final infusion solution, daily dose, and duration of administration. Normally, the infusion rate is gradually increased to the appropriate doses over 30 minutes to 1 hour at the start of administration. It is preferable to administer over 12 to 24 hours and not exceed 7 days. The maximum infusion rate should not exceed 2.5 mL/kg/hour.

This medication is used to improve the nutritional status of patients who cannot take in nutrients orally or via the gastrointestinal tract by supplementing water, electrolytes, amino acids, and calories. It mainly helps to provide nutrition intravenously in situations where oral intake is impossible or insufficient, or is contraindicated. This helps to prevent and treat nutritional deficiencies in patients.
How it is given
Adult administration
Administered via peripheral vein.
Precautions
This medication must be used strictly according to a doctor's instructions. If any allergic reactions such as fever, tremors, rashes, or difficulty breathing occur during use, administration should be stopped immediately. When used together with the antibiotic Ceftriaxone, precipitates may form in the bloodstream, so they should not be administered simultaneously using the same infusion device. Particularly in premature infants or low-birth-weight infants, lipid metabolism may be difficult, posing risks, so caution is advised. Should not be administered to premature infants, neonates, patients allergic to eggs or soybean oil, or those with severe kidney or liver disease. Patients with renal failure, pancreatitis, liver dysfunction, or heart or lung diseases should be administered cautiously, and blood lipid levels should be monitored regularly. Overdosage or rapid administration can cause side effects such as fever, tremors, headache, vomiting, and difficulty breathing, necessitating caution. Long-term administration may cause liver dysfunction or blood-related abnormalities, necessitating regular monitoring. Prior to administration, improvements in fluid and electrolyte imbalance, metabolic disorders should be made, and blood glucose and lipid levels monitored frequently. If an anaphylactic reaction is suspected, administration should be stopped immediately and appropriate measures taken. This medication may have stability issues when mixed with other medications, so consultation with a professional regarding concomitant medications is imperative. If pregnant or breastfeeding, as the safety of this medication has not been established, benefits and risks should be carefully considered before administration. Post-administration, since it may affect test results, blood tests are preferably conducted 5-6 hours after administration. Severe symptoms such as metabolic acidosis, electrolyte imbalance, pulmonary edema, or hyperglycemia can occur with overdosage, requiring immediate consultation with healthcare professionals. Do not use if the package is damaged or the solution appears cloudy or discolored, and administer promptly after opening. Store in a sealed container to protect from air and light, preferably at a cool place between 15 to 25°C. Do not freeze.
