Precautions

This drug should not be used alone and must be taken in conjunction with other antiretroviral drugs because resistance can easily develop with monotherapy. Serious liver problems such as lactic acidosis, hepatic enlargement, and fatty liver may occur during treatment with this drug, so if these symptoms are suspected, treatment should be discontinued immediately and medical attention sought. Patients co-infected with HIV and Hepatitis B virus may experience a rapid worsening of Hepatitis B if this medication is discontinued, so regular liver function tests should be performed even after discontinuation. If symptoms of pancreatitis appear, such as severe abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting, the medication should be stopped immediately and consultation with healthcare professionals is required. Changes in body fat distribution, increased blood glucose and lipid levels may occur during treatment, necessitating regular check-ups, and appropriate treatment should be pursued for any abnormalities. Patients with allergies to this drug or its ingredients should not take it, and dose adjustments are required for those with moderate to severe renal impairment. Patients with a history of chronic liver disease or pancreatitis, and those undergoing treatment for chronic Hepatitis C should exercise special caution when taking this medication. During treatment, gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, as well as blood anomalies, elevated liver enzymes, muscle pains, and neurological symptoms may occur. Patients should inform healthcare professionals of any such symptoms. Pregnant women should only take this medication if the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks, particularly during the first three months of pregnancy. This drug may be excreted in breast milk, so women taking this medication are advised not to breastfeed to prevent HIV transmission to the baby. Elderly patients may have reduced renal function, so the dosage and administration interval should be adjusted for cautious administration. In case of overdose, no specific symptoms may present, but patients should be closely monitored and treated with dialysis if necessary. This drug should be kept out of reach of children, and storage in the original container is important to maintain quality. Long-term effects of this medication have not yet been fully established, hence careful management under the guidance of healthcare professionals is required during use.
