Precautions

This medication is metabolized in the liver and converted to morphine, so individual metabolic rates can vary, resulting in a rapid increase in morphine concentration in some cases, leading to serious side effects. If slow or shallow breathing, confusion, insomnia, constricted pupils, constipation, or decreased appetite occur during treatment, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. Particularly, it is advisable for obese patients under 18 years old or individuals with obstructive sleep apnea or severe lung diseases not to use this drug. Care should be taken when using this drug in combination with other central nervous system depressants or alcohol, as it can lead to severe drowsiness, respiratory depression, coma, and even death. Patients with certain conditions such as acute respiratory depression, severe liver dysfunction, asthma attacks, hemorrhagic colitis, severe lung diseases, or seizure disorders should avoid using this medication as it may pose risks. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as breastfeeding mothers, should not take this drug due to the potential harmful effects on infants through breast milk. Elderly patients or those with impaired kidney or liver function should use this medication cautiously, starting with a low dose. Long-term use of this drug may result in dependence, requiring gradual dose reduction under medical supervision if symptoms occur.
