Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to quinolone antibiotics. During use, shock symptoms such as nausea, limb coldness, and breathing difficulties may rarely occur. If these symptoms arise, the usage should be immediately discontinued, and appropriate treatment should be sought. Additionally, hypersensitivity reactions such as cardiovascular collapse, loss of consciousness, swelling of the face or neck, rash, itching, and breathing difficulties may occur; if such symptoms appear, drug administration should be stopped. Transient stinging, discomfort, pain, redness, itching, photophobia, blurred vision, tearing, and dryness may occur in the eyes, and in rare cases, severe keratitis or serious side effects such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome may occur, necessitating discontinuation of use if symptoms appear. Auditory impairment or other irritative symptoms have also been reported rarely, requiring caution. When using this medication, it is essential to confirm the sensitivity of bacteria to prevent the emergence of resistant strains and to use it only for the minimum necessary duration. Long-term use may cause excessive growth of resistant organisms, such as fungi, so prolonged use should be avoided, and if a secondary infection occurs, alternative treatments should be considered. Particularly for trachoma treatment, a standard administration period is set at 8 weeks, and any continuation beyond this should be carefully considered. During treatment, wearing soft contact lenses should be avoided, as the preservatives contained in this medication may affect the lenses. Women who are pregnant or might become pregnant should only use this medication if the therapeutic benefits outweigh the risks, as its safety has not been established. If breastfeeding, it is advisable to discontinue either drug administration or breastfeeding. It is preferable not to use this medication in infants under 1 year of age, as safety and efficacy have not been established. This medication is intended for ocular use only, and care should be taken to ensure that the tip of the container does not come into direct contact with the eye during use. Additionally, to prevent contamination, it should not be shared with others whenever possible. When storing, keep it out of reach of children, avoid direct sunlight, and store it in a cool, dry place.
