This medicine is effective against several types of bacteria including Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Pneumococcus, Enterococcus, and Moraxella species. It is particularly used for treating conditions related to infections around the eyes, such as blepharitis, dacryocystitis, chalazion, conjunctivitis, meibomianitis, and keratitis. It also aids in the treatment of keratitis, including corneal ulcers, and is applied in sterile procedures before and after ophthalmic surgery. Therefore, this medication can be safely used for various ocular infectious diseases to help improve symptoms.

Dosage

Instill (apply) 3 times a day. Adjust appropriately according to symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to quinolone antibiotics. If symptoms of shock such as nausea, limb coldness, or breathing difficulties occur while using this medication, it must be discontinued immediately and appropriate treatment should be sought. Moreover, severe allergic reactions such as angioedema, difficulty breathing, rash, urticaria, and pruritus may occur, so the drug should be stopped if these symptoms appear. As this is an eye medication, temporary burning sensation, irritation, redness, itching, tearing, and blurred vision may occur, and in severe cases, it may progress to serious skin disorders such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome, requiring immediate cessation if symptoms manifest. Hearing impairment or irritation symptoms may rarely occur, so vigilance should be exercised if any unusual symptoms arise. This medication should be used for only the minimum period necessary after conducting sensitivity tests to prevent the emergence of resistant microorganisms, and prolonged use should be avoided as it may allow for excessive growth of fungi or other non-sensitive strains. In the treatment of trachoma, it should be used for a basic period of 8 weeks, and caution is necessary if used for longer periods. During treatment, wearing soft contact lenses should be avoided. Pregnant women or women who may become pregnant should only use this medication if the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks, as its safety is not guaranteed. Breastfeeding women are advised to discontinue breastfeeding or stop medication use while taking this drug. This medication should not be used in infants under 1 year old, as safety and efficacy have not been established. This product is intended for ophthalmic use only, and care should be taken to avoid direct contact of the container opening with the eye. To prevent contamination from shared use, it is advisable not to use it with others.
