Dosage

Adults: Instill 6-10 drops once, twice daily. After instillation, lie down for about 10 minutes. Adjust as appropriate according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication is a quinolone antibiotic used to treat specific bacterial infections. It should not be used in patients with a hypersensitivity to quinolone antibiotics or those who have previously experienced allergic reactions. Severe allergic reactions may occur during use, which can include symptoms such as low blood pressure, loss of consciousness, swelling of the face or neck, difficulty breathing, hives, and severe itching. If any of these symptoms occur, use should be discontinued immediately. When using this medication, there may be occurrences of itching, dizziness, or ear pain if there is an ear infection. In addition to ear infections, various side effects such as dysgeusia, headache, nausea, vomiting, fever, and tinnitus may also occur, warranting caution. Since this medication can affect auditory and vestibular functions causing hearing loss or balance disorders, it is essential to consult a professional if any abnormal symptoms arise. To prevent the development of resistant bacteria, bacterial susceptibility testing should be conducted, and it should only be used for the minimum necessary duration. Typically, it is administered for a duration of four weeks, and careful consideration should be given if treatment extends beyond that. Long-term use may lead to excessive growth of fungal infections or non-sensitive bacteria, in which case alternative treatment should be considered. If discharge from the ear persists or recurs after treatment, additional measures may be needed to identify and eliminate the underlying cause. Quinolone medications, including this medication, may cause allergic reactions even with a single use, so if a rash or other allergic symptoms occur, it should be discontinued, and a professional should be consulted. If otitis media is limited to the internal ear mucosa, this medication is locally administered as ear drops.
