Ephexin Solution (Ofloxacin)

Adult use

Adults: Instill 6-10 drops per dose twice daily. After instillation, keep the ear in a bath for approximately 10 minutes. Adjust the dose appropriately according to age and symptoms.

This medication is a quinolone antibiotic, used for the treatment of certain bacterial infections. This medication should not be used in patients who are hypersensitive or have had allergic reactions to quinolone drugs. Severe allergic reactions may occur during use, so if swelling of the face or neck occurs or if breathing difficulties arise, use should be stopped immediately and medical consultation should be sought. When there is inflammation in the ear, symptoms such as itching, dizziness, and pain may occur, so caution is advised. When used on areas other than the ear, various side effects such as dysgeusia, headache, vomiting, and fever may occur. Hearing loss or microbial flora alteration may also occur, so any symptoms should be reported immediately. To prevent the development of resistant bacteria, it should only be used for the minimum necessary duration appropriate for the infection, and prolonged use may increase the risk of fungal infections. If inflammation spreads deep within the ear, this medication alone may not be sufficient, and additional treatment may be needed. If allergic symptoms occur, use should be stopped immediately and consultation with an expert should be conducted. During pregnancy, this medication should only be used when the benefits outweigh the risks, and during breastfeeding, either breastfeeding should be stopped or the use of the medication should be discontinued. It is advisable not to use this medication in infants under 1 year of age, as safety and efficacy have not been established. This medication should only be used for topical application, and when applied, the temperature of the solution should be adjusted close to body temperature to prevent dizziness. Oral administration has been reported to cause joint abnormalities in young animals, so oral administration is not recommended.
