Dosage

Epidural anesthesia: administer 200 mg of lidocaine hydrochloride monohydrate once. Conduction anesthesia: administer 40-200 mg, 60-120 mg for supportive nerve block. Infiltration anesthesia: administer 40-200 mg. Surface anesthesia: apply or spray an appropriate amount. For internal use: 1. Intravenous single administration: administer 50-100 mg (1-2 mg/kg) of lidocaine hydrochloride monohydrate slowly over 1-2 minutes.

Precautions

This drug should not be used in patients who are undergoing epidural anesthesia if they are experiencing severe bleeding or are in shock. It should also not be administered to patients with inflammation at the injection site or nearby, or those with septicemia. Furthermore, patients with an allergy to this drug or other amide local anesthetics should not use it. Caution should be exercised when using this drug in patients with central nervous system disorders, pregnant women, the elderly, patients with severe hypertension, and those with significant deformities of the spine. During the use of this drug, serious side effects such as shock may occur, and the patient's condition must be closely monitored; if symptoms such as hypotension, facial pallor, abnormal pulse, or respiratory depression arise, administration should be immediately halted and appropriate treatment sought. Malignant hyperthermia may occur during the administration of this drug, characterized by a rapid rise in temperature, muscle rigidity, changes in blood color, hyperventilation, sweating, acidosis, hyperkalemia, and red-colored urine; in such cases, administration should be stopped immediately and professional treatment obtained. Severe symptoms such as tremors or seizures may manifest in the central nervous system; if observed, administration should be suspended and appropriate pharmacologic treatment initiated. Symptoms such as drowsiness, anxiety, dizziness, nausea, and vomiting may also occur and should be closely monitored. Allergic reactions such as skin rashes or edema may develop, so any abnormal symptoms should be reported immediately. Caution is required when using this drug in conjunction with vasoconstrictors, particularly in patients with high blood pressure or cardiovascular disease; it is advisable not to add vasoconstrictors in these cases. The safety of this drug has not been established in pregnant women or those who might become pregnant; it should only be used when the therapeutic benefit outweighs the risks. In the elderly, this drug may have a stronger effect, requiring dosage adjustments and careful monitoring of their condition. This drug is not used for ophthalmic purposes. The metabolites of this drug have been reported to potentially cause mutations in animal studies; therefore, it is important not to use it at high concentrations for prolonged periods. When used for internal medicine, this drug should not be administered to patients with severe cardiac conduction abnormalities or hypersensitivity to it. Caution is advised when administering to patients with poor cardiac function, those with severely impaired liver or kidney function, patients with reduced blood volume, those in shock, and the elderly. Avoid overdose and continuously monitor blood pressure and electrocardiogram during administration. There may be interactions with other medications, so any concurrent medications should be disclosed to healthcare professionals.
