Actor Myung Se-bin (49) expressed concerns about the excessive amount of exercise she needs.
On the SBS Plus show "Solo," which premiered on the 29th, Myung Se-bin talked with her new sister about menopause and exercise. When she discovered her 2019 health checkup, she was shocked when she was told to work out harder. "She said, 'I need to work out harder.'"
"What's shocking is that they say you shouldn't exercise twice a week," she said, worried, "They say you have to exercise five times a week. How can you do that five times a week?" Then, her new sister-in-law said, "People who have menopause have a hard time," and "They say that when you have menopause, your face also becomes ugly," and said that exercise was necessary. Myung Se-bin chimed in, "I think I've been looking a bit ugly lately."
The new sister then continued the conversation about blind dates, saying, "How about meeting a man before you become unattractive?" Perhaps because of this, Myung Se-bin posted several photos of golf balls on an outdoor golf course on the 29th, hinting at her intense focus on golf.
Golf is an effective exercise that simultaneously strengthens cardiopulmonary function while providing both physical muscle training and aerobic exercise benefits. A golf course is approximately 7-8km long for 18 holes. Walking the course can burn 1,000-1,500 calories. The swing posture involves stabilizing the body with weight from the toes to the hips, then applying a rotational motion.
During this exercise, all muscles throughout the body, including the lower body, spine, and upper body, are engaged. The erector spinae and abdominal muscles are particularly stimulated. The swing requires a momentary surge of power, strengthening the core muscles. Golf is also beneficial for mental health. It can help alleviate symptoms in patients with depression and anxiety. The green color of the fields soothes the mind, and the sunlight stimulates the synthesis of serotonin, the happiness hormone.
However, because golf involves repetitive swings on one side, chronic pain can develop in one side of the upper body. Because it statically contracts muscles throughout the body, poor posture or excessive force increases the risk of injury. The lower back is particularly prone to injury. To prevent injury, it's important to thoroughly stretch before playing golf, focusing on the upper body, which is heavily used.
Stretching should be done in the following order: shoulders, chest and abdomen, sides, back, front legs, and wrists. It's important to maintain a relaxed posture while playing golf. It's also recommended to stretch after a round of golf to loosen up.
