Review of the effectiveness, pain, and cost of the anti-inflammatory injection for pustular acne

 

This is the huge pimple I had on my forehead.

It wasn't just big; it was red and stuck out even when viewed from the side.

 

When I get breakouts on my face, I usually just disinfect them at home, extract them myself, apply medication, or wait for them to disappear on their own without touching them. However, this acne didn't go down for almost three weeks.

I went to the dermatologist thinking it might be an epidermal cyst, but fortunately, it wasn't; it was a pustular acne breakout.

 

Even the doctor looked at it and said it was too big, haha.

They explained that I need to have the extraction done first and receive an anti-inflammatory injection.

I went to the treatment room, and after lightly poking with a needle, the extraction was performed.

Instead of using a tool, the director squeezed it out by hand.

So it really hurt so much.

The extraction was quite painful.

I got an anti-inflammatory injection right after the extraction was finished, and the injection didn't hurt at all.

The doctor said a lot of yellow pus came out when they squeezed it, and perhaps because it was big, it bled so much that I even had to put on a Medifoam!

Anti-inflammatory injections are usually priced per unit, and while it varies by hospital, the place I went to charged about 15,000 won.

It was just exactly the same...

It's only been a day, so I figured that's how it is and waited a bit, but...

 

After 3 days

The size decreased slightly, but it was still bulging, and the anti-inflammatory effect didn't appear immediately as much as I had expected.

I thought I'd wait one more day, but the next day was the same.

On the fourth day, I went back to the dermatology clinic and got another anti-inflammatory injection.

For major skin issues, a single treatment wasn't enough to produce the effect of an anti-inflammatory injection.

 

Fortunately, after receiving two injections, the swelling finally flattened out, and only then was I able to properly feel the effect of the anti-inflammatory injection.

And after getting an anti-inflammatory injection, the marks don't just disappear instantly or go right in.

Once the inflammation subsides, it becomes darkly pigmented like a spot.

 

In my case, it went from convex -> flattened -> discolored -> disappeared.

It recovered in this order, but the discoloration lasted a really, really long time.

I think it went on for over two weeks in this state.

 

It took almost a month to get it restored.

For large pimples like mine, the effects of the anti-inflammatory injection may not appear immediately, but for general skin troubles, it is said that the effects often appear relatively quickly!

I think it will recover quickly if the size is small.

I've had it injected into my chin before, and back then, the discoloration really lasted for over half a year.

Perhaps because I have naturally weak skin that takes a long time to discoloration even from a mosquito bite, I noticed that the effectiveness of the anti-inflammatory injection varied depending on my skin condition and the size of the blemish.

Fortunately, there were no side effects like pitting or depressions after the injection, but I could definitely see the effect of the pus draining out and the skin becoming flatter.
