[Noel Clinic] Flat Wart Removal Review | Full Face Cost, From Pain to Recovery
1. Reason for the procedure
I don't know when they first appeared, but at some point, I started noticing tiny, bumpy things on my face. I just brushed it off, thinking they were tiny whiteheads. They are so small and not usually very noticeable, but they keep catching on my fingertips when I apply my skincare, and the raised areas become much more visible when I look in the mirror.
I wondered what this was, so I looked it up and found out it was a flat wart. Just in case, I got it checked at a dermatology clinic.
Flat warts are
It is a viral skin condition characterized by lesions less than 1 cm in size. While it resembles milia or whiteheads, it primarily appears on the faces and limbs of young adults and adolescents. It can occur when immunity is weakened, is contagious, and carries a risk of recurrence.
I was a bit flustered to hear that there were more on my face than I expected. I thought if it were just one, I could just lightly remove it and be done with it, but since the small ones were scattered all over, I was worried about the cost and whether it was right to remove them all at once.
It felt a bit awkward to just leave it alone, so I looked for a place where I could get treatment for my entire face and had my flat warts cleared up all at once in June. I'd like to leave a review!
2. Immediately after the procedure
Before the procedure, they first checked my skin condition, identified the areas to be treated, and applied anesthetic cream. Since there were so many small bumps all over my face, they had to locate them one by one and treat them with the laser, so it took quite a bit longer than I expected (about 2 hours!).
Even with anesthesia, I felt quite a stinging sensation every time the laser touched me. It wasn't too difficult when I had it done one by one, but it was surprisingly painful when I had several spots treated in a row. I think I endured the pain while shedding tears for the unnumbed areas around my eyes.
Still, the procedure itself felt like it went by faster than I expected.
The problem was when I looked in the mirror right after the procedure.
After the laser treatment, everything showed up on my face like small red dots. I was even more surprised because my whole face looked patchy up close, and I was worried about whether it would get better within a few days.
On that day, my skin stung and felt slightly warm, but it wasn't severely painful. Afterwards, I applied Fucidin ointment as instructed by the hospital and avoided touching it as much as possible. I was also careful with washing my face, applying makeup, and exercising during the period recommended by the hospital.
3. Recovery Process
The next day, a small scab started to form over the red mark.
From that point on, I actually felt a little more at ease because, rather than seeing it red like right after the procedure, I realized that the recovery process was underway as scabs formed.
Still, since there were scabs all over my face, I was self-conscious about going out, so I tried not to touch them with my hands as much as possible and waited for them to fall off naturally.
After a few days, small scabs began to fall off one by one. At first, the skin underneath looked slightly redder than the surrounding area, and I was most worried about the possibility of hyperpigmentation. Since marks on the skin tend to last a long time once they form, I made sure not to touch them and paid close attention to sun protection.
As a little more time passed, the red marks gradually faded, and my skin slowly returned to its original condition.
4. Results
The cost for full facial removal was about 110,000 won, including VAT. There were more small lesions than I expected, so I was initially worried the cost might be a burden, but personally, I was satisfied that I was able to have my entire face treated :)
The first thing I noticed was how my skin felt to the touch. In the past, I used to feel tiny bumps on my fingertips when washing my face, but that sensation has definitely decreased, and my skin feels smoother than before. There is definitely a recovery period, but now that the rough, bumpy areas that bothered me up close are gone, my face looks clean and neat overall!
Right after the procedure, there were a lot of red marks, so I wondered if I had made a mistake getting it done. However, after a few days, as the scabs fell off one by one and the redness faded, my opinion changed. What I am most satisfied with now is that I no longer check for bumpy areas first whenever I look in the mirror.
I heard that just because flat warts have been removed once doesn't mean they won't reappear, so I realized it's important to check for any similar ones later on. At first, I also thought they were millet seeds and kept touching them, but since similar-looking things can be different types, I think it's better to get an accurate diagnosis first rather than scratching or squeezing them out at home.
Also, since redness and pigmentation may remain depending on skin condition, it was important to get a clear explanation when looking for a clinic, including how the removal is performed and the estimated recovery period.
At first, I put it off for months because I thought it was nothing serious, but now that I've actually sorted it out, I wish I had checked it sooner. If you are constantly bothered by the tiny bumps on your face, I recommend getting them properly checked at a dermatologist rather than just dismissing them as milia!
