[Metro Eye Clinic] The retinal laser consultation was detailed, which was great.
① What procedure/surgery consultation did you receive?
I have high myopia and had been visiting only small ophthalmology clinics for floaters, but wanting to get a proper comprehensive examination, I went to Metro Ophthalmology Clinic, a large hospital, where I was diagnosed with peripheral retinal degeneration and received a consultation for bilateral retinal laser photocoagulation.
② How was the doctor's explanation?
Since I visited a large ophthalmology clinic without an appointment, there was a bit of a wait for the first consultation. Most of the patients there were by appointment. It was nice that, aside from the first consultation, I could be seen immediately without waiting once I made an appointment. I received a comprehensive eye examination for the first time; after the test, they confirmed retinal degeneration in both eyes and explained in detail what would happen in the future if I didn't undergo laser treatment now. They also explained the procedure steps and anesthesia in detail.
③ How was the hospital atmosphere and service?
I went without a reservation, so there was a bit of a wait, but the facilities were clean and the atmosphere was nice, so I wasn't bored while waiting, and the staff were friendly, which was great.
④ How was the recommendation or price information?
It was great to be able to receive a detailed explanation about the procedure from the doctor, and then speak with a staff member specializing in consultations to get an even more detailed explanation. In particular, I was able to ask specific questions about insurance coverage and pricing before the procedure. It was also easy to understand because the process was explained two or three times while I was signing for the procedure, which helped me make the decision.
⑤ What were your thoughts after the consultation?
After receiving a sudden diagnosis, I was debating whether to proceed with the procedure immediately or postpone it, but since the consultation was detailed and professional, I decided to have it done right away. Mydriatics were applied to both eyes to dilate them, followed by anesthetic eye drops for laser treatment. I was very satisfied with the consistent follow-up care and detailed checkups, and I thought it was a great decision to go to a large hospital for a thorough examination. It was a relief to visit a large ophthalmology hospital capable of detailed checkups, procedures, and surgeries, rather than just going to small clinics.
