Fragrant bread, thick meat, and sweet, spicy, and刺激ating sauce. Hamburgers seem far from healthy. However, because they are low in carbohydrates and high in protein, you can enjoy them without much concern if you pay attention to a few things.

 

◇Protein, the 'ratio' is important

 

The first step to a healthy diet is a balanced composition of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. According to a 2021 study by the Department of Family Medicine at Yongin Severance Hospital, it was found that a lower mortality rate is associated with consuming 20-30% of total nutrients as protein. The same applies to hamburgers.

 

Hamburgers with a "protein-to-calorie ratio" of 20-30%, which is the proportion of protein calories to total calories, are relatively less burdensome. For example, a chicken breast burger sold by domestic company A has a total calorie content of 389 kcal and contains 25 g of protein. Since 1 g of protein provides 4 kcal, the total protein calories in this burger are 100 kcal, and the protein-to-calorie ratio is approximately 25.7% (protein calories 100 kcal ÷ total calories 389 kcal × 100). Products with patties made from chicken breast, like this, have the advantage of increasing the protein-to-calorie ratio while also lowering the total calorie content.

◇Drain the sauce, and skip the French fries

 

The daily sodium intake limit suggested by the Korea Food and Drug Administration is 2000mg. The sodium content in a hamburger ranges from 700 to 900mg, accounting for nearly half of the daily sodium limit. In particular, hamburger sauce contains a large amount of sodium, so it is advisable to order less sauce.

 

Remove the French fries that come with the hamburger set as well. According to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety's Food and Nutritional Content Data Book, the ideal macronutrient ratio is 57-68% carbohydrates, 12-13% protein, and 12-13% fat. However, in the case of French fries, fat accounts for as much as 49%. To reduce fat intake, only eat the hamburger without the French fries.

My husband... can't really eat hamburgers.

They especially strongly advise not to eat French fries, haha.
