Improvement of blood glucose control in type 2 diabetes

It helps to effectively control blood sugar by complementing meal and exercise therapy with the combination of sitagliptin and metformin. In other words, this drug is suitable for patients who have difficulties managing blood sugar levels and contributes to maintaining stable blood sugar levels. It is used to support diabetes treatment by enhancing blood glucose control.
This drug is usually taken twice a day with food, and the dosage should be gradually increased to reduce gastrointestinal adverse reactions caused by metformin. The initial dosage is determined based on the patient's current treatment regimen. 1. Patients not previously treated with metformin: - Take this drug 50/500 mg twice daily, taking 1 tablet at a time, with the possibility of increasing to 50/1000 mg. 2. Patients treated with metformin:

Firstly, while taking this drug, a serious allergic reaction may rarely occur, so if symptoms like skin rash, hives, or difficulty breathing appear, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. Additionally, this drug can cause a serious side effect known as acute pancreatitis, which is inflammation of the pancreas; therefore, inform medical personnel immediately if symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting, or severe abdominal discomfort occur. It is not administered to pregnant or breastfeeding women, or children under 18 years of age. During treatment, symptoms of hypoglycemia, where blood sugar levels drop too low, may occur, so irregular meals and excessive exercise should be avoided, and patients should pay attention to signs of hypoglycemia. In particular, when taken with other antidiabetic agents or insulin, the risk of hypoglycemia may increase, so dosage adjustments should be made according to a physician's instructions. This drug can affect liver and kidney function, so regular blood tests and kidney function tests should be performed before and during treatment. Alcohol consumption may increase the risk of severe side effects such as lactic acidosis, hence drinking should be avoided during use. In case of surgery, this drug should be discontinued 48 hours prior to the surgery and resumed only after confirming normal kidney function post-surgery. Finally, during treatment with this drug, it is important to maintain lifestyle habits necessary for diabetes management, including dietary therapy, regular exercise, and regular blood glucose tests.
