Improvement of lipids through reduction of LDL-cholesterol and increase of HDL-cholesterol in primary hypercholesterolemia (homozygous familial) and mixed hyperlipidemia
This medication is used as an adjunct to dietary therapy for lowering total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, ApoB protein, and triglycerides in patients with hypercholesterolemia and mixed hyperlipidemia, as well as for increasing HDL cholesterol. It is particularly effective for patients with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia and for those with non-familial hypercholesterolemia; it can be used as an adjunctive therapy when other treatments are ineffective in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. This medication should be used in conjunction with appropriate dietary therapy, and when there is an underlying secondary cause, that condition should be treated first. Cholesterol and lipid levels should be periodically checked before and during treatment to confirm therapeutic effect. This comprehensive management improves the risk of atherosclerotic vascular disease related to hypercholesterolemia.
This medication is administered once daily in the evening, regardless of meals. The dosage range for patients with primary hypercholesterolemia is 10/10mg to 10/40mg daily, with a recommended starting dose typically of 10/20mg daily. Patients who have a lesser need for LDL-cholesterol reduction may start at 10/10mg daily. Dosage adjustments should be made after checking lipid levels at intervals of 4 weeks or longer. For homozygous

Caution is also needed when combined with other lipid-lowering drugs or certain immunosuppressants and hormone preparations. During the course of treatment, regular blood tests should be conducted to monitor liver function and muscle status. Elderly patients and those with impaired kidney function should also use this medication with caution, and any unusual symptoms should be reported to healthcare professionals immediately.
