Precautions

This drug must be administered intravenously. Caution is required to avoid damaging surrounding tissues if administered intra-arterially or perivascularly. It should not be given to patients with known allergies to this drug or its components, or to patients with untreated hypocalcemia. Some patients using this medication may experience gastrointestinal-related symptoms such as gastritis, diarrhea, abdominal pain, indigestion, nausea, and constipation. Musculoskeletal symptoms such as myalgia, arthralgia, and musculoskeletal pain have also been reported. Some patients may experience flu-like symptoms, fatigue, headache, or rash. These symptoms are generally mild or moderate and resolve without discontinuation of treatment. Rarely, severe symptoms such as skin rash, angioedema, allergic reactions, and severe skin conditions may occur, and medical consultation should be sought if symptoms worsen. This medication can cause serious side effects such as osteonecrosis of the jaw and osteonecrosis of the outer ear, so it is particularly important for cancer patients or those undergoing dental treatment to have a dental examination beforehand and to avoid excessive dental procedures during treatment. Long-term use of this drug may increase the risk of atypical fractures of the femur or other bones, so patients should immediately inform their doctor if they experience pain in the thigh or groin. Patients with hypocalcemia or bone metabolism disorders must be adequately treated prior to administration, and it is important to intake sufficient calcium and vitamin D. Due to potential effects on kidney function, patients with kidney disease or those taking medications affecting the kidneys should undergo regular check-ups. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should refrain from using this medication as its safety has not been established. In cases of overdose, kidney and liver function should be closely monitored, and appropriate treatment should be administered if electrolyte disturbances such as hypocalcemia occur. This medication should not be mixed with solutions containing calcium and must be administered only intravenously. After use, needles and syringes should not be reused and must be disposed of safely.
