This medication is used to relieve symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, and nasal congestion caused by colds, allergies, and vasomotor rhinitis. Tablets or syrups are effective in alleviating symptoms including tearing, while capsules primarily help relieve sneezing, runny nose, and nasal congestion. It assists in improving symptoms to help patients breathe comfortably.

Dosage

(Tablet) 1 tablet at a time, 3 times a day after meals. (Capsule) 1 capsule at a time, 3 times a day after meals. (Syrup) Children aged 12 and over and adults: 10 mL at a time, 3 times a day after meals.

Precautions

This medication contains pseudoephedrine, which may cause severe allergic reactions on the skin. If symptoms such as fever, rash, or small blisters appear, discontinue use immediately and consult a professional. Individuals allergic to this medication or those with severe liver, kidney, or heart dysfunction should not take it, nor should people with urinary disorders that lead to difficulty urinating. Patients with hypertension or heart diseases, pregnant or breastfeeding women, infants under 2 years old, and individuals with specific genetic lactose issues should also avoid using this medication. While taking this medication, it should not be combined with various drugs such as blood pressure medication, alcohol, sleeping pills, and antidepressants, and particularly, if an MAO inhibitor has been taken recently, this medication can only be started after at least 15 days. It is advisable not to perform activities requiring concentration, such as driving or operating machinery, while taking this medication. Individuals with asthma, glaucoma, heart disease, diabetes, thyroid issues, or prostate enlargement, as well as children under 12 years old, must consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication. If symptoms do not improve within 7 days or if a high fever occurs, discontinue use immediately and inform a professional. If abnormal symptoms such as drowsiness, anxiety, seizures, vision abnormalities, skin rash, vomiting, or urinary irregularities occur, discontinue use immediately and consult. In case of overdose, hallucinations, seizures, nervous excitability, and insomnia may occur, and immediate emergency treatment is necessary. Special treatment may be required to ensure the components of this medication are effectively excreted from the body. Finally, store this medication out of reach of children, in a cool, dry place, protected from direct sunlight, and tightly closed in its original container.

Side effects

Acute generalized eruptive pustulosis (AGEP), high fever, erythema, multiple small pustules, severe skin adverse reactions, respiratory failure, coma, cardiovascular collapse, acute toxicity, ischemic colitis symptoms (sudden abdominal pain, rectal bleeding), reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy syndrome and reversible cerebrovascular constriction syndrome symptoms (sudden severe headache, thunderclap headache, nausea, vomiting, confusion, seizures, visual disturbances)

Interactions

Do not take this medication with MAO inhibitors, antihypertensive agents, central nervous system depressants (sleeping pills, sedatives, tranquilizers), sympathomimetics, tricyclic antidepressants, guanethidine, bretylium, betanidine, debrisoquine, methyldopa, sympathomimetic medications (decongestants, appetite suppressants, amphetamines), or adrenergic antagonists.
