This medication is used to relieve symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, nasal congestion, and tearing caused by the common cold, allergies, and vasomotor rhinitis. The tablet and syrup formulations alleviate tearing symptoms, while the capsule formulation improves sneezing, runny nose, and nasal congestion symptoms, excluding tearing. By relieving these symptoms, it helps patients feel more comfortable in their daily lives.

Dosage

(Tablets) Take 1 tablet once, 3 times a day after meals. (Capsules) Take 1 capsule once, 3 times a day after meals. (Syrup) Take 10 mL once, 3 times a day after meals.

Precautions

This medication contains pseudoephedrine, which can rarely cause serious skin adverse reactions such as acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis. If symptoms such as fever, red spots, or small blisters on the skin appear, stop taking this medication immediately and consult a doctor or pharmacist. This medication should not be taken by individuals who have previously exhibited an allergic reaction to it, those with severe liver or kidney dysfunction, or those with severe heart disease. Additionally, individuals with urinary retention, high blood pressure, coronary artery disease, pregnant or potentially pregnant women, breastfeeding women, infants under 2 years old, and patients taking MAO inhibitors should not take this medication. During the course of this medication, avoid taking it with medications that may have interactions, such as antihypertensives, alcohol, central nervous system depressants (such as sleeping pills or sedatives), sympathomimetics, some antidepressants, etc. In particular, after taking MAO inhibitors, this medication should only be started at least 15 days later. While taking this medication, it is advisable to avoid activities that require concentration, such as driving or operating dangerous machinery. Those with asthma, glaucoma, heart disease, arrhythmias, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, or prostatic hyperplasia, and children under 12 years old must consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication. If symptoms do not improve within 7 days or if high fever occurs, stop taking and consult an expert immediately. Additionally, if central nervous system side effects such as sedation, drowsiness, anxiety, sweating, low blood pressure, visual disturbances, hallucinations, muscle spasms, or coma appear, stop taking immediately. Skin rashes or itching, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, urinary difficulties may also occur, so consult an expert if these symptoms arise. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hallucinations, seizures, nervous irritability, dizziness, and insomnia may occur; seek emergency treatment immediately, and dialysis may be necessary if required. This medication should be kept out of reach of children, stored in its original container sealed, avoiding direct sunlight, and in a cool, dry place. Transferring it to another container may decrease the quality of the medicine or pose a risk of misuse.

Side effects

Acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP), high fever, erythema, severe skin adverse reactions such as numerous small pustules, severe headaches, thunderclap headaches, seizures, confusion, visual disturbances, acute toxicity (hallucinations and seizures), respiratory paralysis, coma, circulatory failure, urinary difficulties, ischemic colitis symptoms (severe abdominal pain, rectal bleeding)

Interactions

Do not take this medication with antihypertensives, central nervous system depressants (sleeping pills, sedatives, tranquilizers), MAO inhibitors, sympathomimetics, tricyclic antidepressants, guanethidine, bretylium, beta-naphthine, debrisoquine, methyldopa, sympathomimetic drugs (decongestants, appetite suppressants, amphetamine-like stimulants), and alpha and beta adrenergic blockers. Caution is also needed when taken with alcohol.
