Treatment of peripheral and central neuropathic pain, adjunctive effect for partial seizures in epilepsy, improvement of fibromyalgia.
This medicine is used for the treatment of peripheral and central neuropathic pain in adults. It is also used as an adjunctive treatment for partial seizures in epilepsy patients and is effective even when there are secondary generalized symptoms. Additionally, it helps alleviate symptoms of fibromyalgia. Thus, it is used for various neurological disorders, ranging from neuropathic pain to epilepsy and chronic pain syndrome.
This drug is taken orally in two divided doses per day without regard to meals. Place on the tongue and swallow without water once it disintegrates. 1. Neuropathic Pain (1) Peripheral Neuropathic Pain: The starting dose is 150 mg daily which can be increased to 300 mg daily after 3 to 7 days. If necessary, the dose can be further increased to a maximum of 600 mg daily at intervals of 7 days.
There is insufficient safety and efficacy data for children under 12 years of age and adolescents aged 12 to 17, so administration is not recommended.
This medication may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviors; therefore, during treatment, if symptoms of depression, mood changes, or unusual behavior occur, medical personnel should be informed immediately. Patients with an allergy to any ingredient in this medication should not take it, and diabetic patients should be careful as blood sugar control may be required due to weight gain. If serious allergic reactions like angioedema occur, the medication should be stopped immediately and medical advice should be sought. Elderly patients should exercise caution as there is a risk of falls due to dizziness or drowsiness; visual changes such as blurred vision may also occur. When combined with other antiepileptic medications, withdrawal symptoms may appear upon stopping the medication, so medical advice should be followed. There is a risk of drug abuse, so patients with a psychiatric history should be particularly cautious and should be monitored for signs of drug misuse or dependence. Patients with reduced kidney function may require dose adjustments, and it should be administered with caution to patients with heart failure. When taken with opioids, increased central nervous system depressant effects may occur, necessitating caution, especially in patients with respiratory diseases or the elderly due to the risk of respiratory depression. Due to the risk of fetal malformation in early pregnancy, women of childbearing age should use effective contraception, and during pregnancy, the risks and benefits for both the mother and fetus should be carefully considered. During breastfeeding, since this medication may pass into breast milk, consideration should be given to stopping breastfeeding or the medication. Activities like driving or operating machinery should be avoided after taking this medication due to potential dizziness or drowsiness. If serious rashes or allergic symptoms develop while taking this medication, stop the medication immediately and consult with medical personnel. In cases of overdose, confusion, drowsiness, depression, seizures, etc., may occur, necessitating immediate emergency treatment. Keep out of reach of children and do not transfer to other containers for safety.

This medication should be stored in a sealed container to prevent air or moisture. It is best kept at room temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius, away from extremely hot or cold areas.
