Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

This medication is Pregabalin and is administered orally twice a day without regard to meals; it should be placed on the tongue and swallowed without water once it dissolves. 1. Precautions

This medication may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or behaviors; therefore, if there are any changes in mood or behavior during use, medical personnel should be notified immediately. Patients with hypersensitivity to this medication should not take it. Diabetes patients may require dosage adjustments for blood sugar control due to weight gain. If symptoms of angioedema appear, usage should be discontinued immediately. Elderly patients should be cautious of falls or accidents due to dizziness or drowsiness. Blurred vision or changes in vision may occur, and these symptoms may improve upon discontinuation of the medication. If the medication is abruptly stopped, withdrawal symptoms such as insomnia, headache, and anxiety may occur; therefore, it should be gradually reduced in consultation with a doctor. There is a risk of drug abuse, so caution is needed in patients with a history of mental illness or drug abuse. Patients with reduced kidney function may need dosage adjustments. Patients with heart disease should use this medication with particular caution. Taking this medication with other CNS depressants may increase the risk of respiratory depression and other side effects. It is not recommended for use during the early stages of pregnancy due to the risk of fetal malformations unless special circumstances exist; women of childbearing age should use effective contraception. During lactation, the drug may be passed into breast milk, so nursing should be considered for discontinuation or cessation of the medication. Dizziness and drowsiness are common side effects, so driving or operating dangerous machinery after taking the drug should be avoided. Severe skin reactions may rarely occur; if symptoms such as skin rash or swelling appear, medication should be stopped immediately and medical consultation sought. In the case of overdose, symptoms may include confusion, drowsiness, and depression; treatment such as hemodialysis may be required if necessary. Keep this medication out of reach of children, and avoid transferring it to another container.
