Precautions

This medication should not be used by anyone who has a known allergic reaction to this drug or any of its components. Patients taking other serotonergic medications, such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) or serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), should be cautious when using this drug. Rarely, severe allergic reactions, shock, or seizures similar to epilepsy may occur with this medication, so if any unusual symptoms occur, usage should be immediately discontinued, and healthcare personnel should be informed. Various side effects such as headaches, digestive disorders, liver function abnormalities, rashes, and itching can occur, so the patient's condition should be closely monitored. This medication is primarily intended for patients who receive anticancer agents that cause strong nausea and vomiting. Using this medication in conjunction with other serotonergic drugs may lead to a serious side effect known as serotonin syndrome, so it should only be used under the supervision of healthcare professionals. When taken together with drugs that affect enzymes responsible for drug metabolism in the liver, the blood concentration of this medication may increase, which poses a higher risk of side effects, thus caution is warranted. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully consider the risks and benefits of using this drug, and nursing mothers are advised to stop breastfeeding while taking this drug. Safety in pediatrics has not been sufficiently established, and use is restricted. Elderly patients may have diminished physical function, so their condition should be closely monitored when using this drug, and immediate action should be taken if side effects occur. Do not mix this medication with certain injectable solutions; consult with a pharmacist or healthcare professional before administration. Animal studies have reported risks that may affect the fetus or newborn, so caution is advised when used during pregnancy.
