This medication is primarily used for bronchial asthma and allergic rhinitis.
Adults: Administer 50mg of pranlukast hydrate orally twice daily, after breakfast and dinner. Adjust the dose as appropriate according to symptoms.
This medication should not be used by patients who are allergic to this medicine or any of its components. Additionally, since this drug contains lactose, patients with genetic issues such as galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take it. During the use of this medication, serious allergic reactions such as shock or anaphylaxis may occur; therefore, if there are symptoms such as a drop in blood pressure, altered consciousness, difficulty breathing, or skin rashes, stop taking the medication immediately and see a doctor. If there is a decrease in white blood cells or platelets, the risk of infection or bleeding may increase; therefore, if unusual symptoms such as fever, sore throat, purpura, or nosebleeds appear, discontinue use and consult a doctor. If liver function issues arise, leading to jaundice or elevated liver enzymes, discontinue use and seek appropriate treatment if liver dysfunction symptoms occur. If respiratory problems arise, leading to fever, cough, or difficulty breathing, stop using the medication and seek necessary treatment. Symptoms such as muscle pain, weakness, or muscle damage may occur, in which case stopping the medication and seeing a doctor is necessary. If hypersensitivity reactions appear, such as skin rashes, hives, or itching, discontinue the medication and take appropriate measures. Mental symptoms such as tremors, convulsions, anxiety, headache, drowsiness, or dizziness may occur; caution is required if these symptoms appear. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, or vomiting may occur, and if symptoms are severe, it is advisable to stop taking the medication. Rarely, symptoms such as cardiac rhythm disturbances or palpitations may appear, so caution is needed for these symptoms. There may be urinary-related issues, so if frequent urination or difficulties in urination occur, it is recommended to consult a doctor. Unlike bronchodilators or steroids, this medication does not relieve acute asthma attacks, so this should be thoroughly explained to the patient. If asthma attacks worsen during the use of this medication, additional bronchodilators or steroids should be used. Patients who have been on long-term steroid treatment and are reducing the steroid dosage while taking this medication should do so gradually; sudden discontinuation may lead to a relapse of the original condition, so caution is required. Rarely, serious side effects such as vasculitis may occur with this medication; if symptoms such as tingling, joint pain, fever, or lung problems appear, inform medical personnel immediately. As this medication may affect mental health, if symptoms of depression, suicidal thoughts, or aggressive behavior appear, consult a doctor immediately. It is advisable not to continue this medication if there is a lack of long-term efficacy. Additionally, this medication is metabolized in the liver by a specific enzyme (CYP3A4); therefore, using this medication together with other drugs that affect this enzyme may alter the blood concentration of the medication, so it is essential to inform the doctor or pharmacist of any other medications being taken. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only take this medication when it is judged that the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks, as safety has not been fully established. Safety for children, especially newborns or infants, has not been confirmed sufficiently, thus caution is needed. Elderly patients may have reduced physical function, so it is advisable to use a lower dose. Finally, this medication should be stored out of reach of children; transferring it to another container may lead to accidents or degradation of quality, so caution is needed.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication may be sensitive to air and moisture, so it must be stored in a tightly sealed container. It is advisable to maintain the storage temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius at room temperature.
