Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

This medication is administered once daily after the evening meal. It should be swallowed whole and should not be divided, crushed, or chewed. As a starting dose, 150 mg (1 tablet) may be administered once daily. Based on individual patient response and tolerability, the dosage may be increased to a maximum of 600 mg daily at weekly intervals. In cases of renal impairment, the dose should be adjusted according to creatinine clearance.

Children's dosage

Precautions

This drug may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or behaviors, so if mood or behavioral changes, symptoms of depression, etc., occur during treatment, consult a doctor immediately. Patients with hypersensitivity to this medication should not take it. Diabetes patients should be cautious as they may need to adjust their dose of blood sugar control medications due to weight gain. If allergic reactions such as angioedema occur, discontinue the medication immediately and inform medical personnel. Elderly patients should be particularly careful at the beginning of treatment due to risks of falls or injuries from dizziness or drowsiness. Visual changes such as blurred vision may occur, and such symptoms may improve after discontinuation of the medication. Withdrawal symptoms such as insomnia, headache, and anxiety may occur upon discontinuation, so the medication should be reduced gradually under a doctor's guidance. Due to the risk of drug abuse, patients with a history of substance abuse should be more cautious and report any abnormal behavior immediately. Patients with impaired kidney function may need dose adjustments. Patients with heart disease should be cautious as there may be a risk of congestive heart failure when taking this medication. Caution is advised if this drug is taken with opioid analgesics as it may increase central nervous system depressant effects, posing a risk of respiratory depression. It is best not to take the medication during pregnancy due to the risk of fetal malformation, and fertile women should use effective contraception. Women who are breastfeeding should discontinue nursing or consult a doctor while taking this medication as it may be passed into breast milk. Driving or operating dangerous machinery should be avoided until familiar with the effects of the drug, as dizziness and drowsiness may occur. In case of overdose, symptoms may include confusion, drowsiness, and seizures, and treatment such as hemodialysis may be necessary.
