This medicine should not be administered to patients who have previously shown allergic reactions to this medicine or any of its components. Caution should be exercised when using this drug in patients taking other serotonergic medications, such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) or serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). Serious allergic reactions such as shock or anaphylaxis may occur while using this drug; if abnormal symptoms appear, administration should be halted immediately and appropriate treatment should be provided. There have been reports of seizure-like symptoms similar to epilepsy, so caution is needed for patients at risk of seizures. Side effects such as headaches, diarrhea, constipation, liver function abnormalities, skin rashes, and itching may occur; consult a doctor if symptoms arise. When used with other serotonergic drugs, a dangerous condition known as serotonin syndrome can occur, so the patient's condition should be closely monitored. Caution should be taken as medications that affect enzymes that break down drugs in the liver can increase the serum concentration of this drug, thereby increasing the risk of side effects. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully consider the benefits and risks of using this drug, and if breastfeeding, it is recommended to discontinue breastfeeding. Safety has not been sufficiently established for children, so usage should be avoided. Elderly patients may have reduced bodily functions; therefore, careful observation of side effects is necessary during administration. This drug may undergo chemical changes when mixed with certain intravenous fluids, so mixing should be avoided during preparation, except in exceptional cases.
