This medication is used in combination with prednisolone for adult patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer who have not experienced chemotherapy treatment. It primarily helps to slow the progression of prostate cancer and improve the patient's condition. Patients are advised to understand that this treatment is used to inhibit the growth of cancer cells and effectively manage the progression of the disease. The recommended dose of this drug is Niraparib 200 mg / Abiraterone acetate 1000 mg (100 mg / 500 mg tablets 2 tablets) to be taken once daily at the same time if possible. This drug must be administered on an empty stomach, at least 2 hours after meals, and food should not be consumed for at least 1 hour after administration. It should be swallowed whole with water and not chewed, crushed, or broken.
This medication may lead to the development of severe hematological malignancies such as myelodysplastic syndrome or acute myeloid leukemia; therefore, consultation with a specialist is required if hematological toxicity is suspected. Patients with allergies to this medication or its additives, pregnant or breastfeeding women, patients with moderate or severe hepatic impairment, and lactose intolerant patients should not use this drug. Additionally, concomitant use with radium-223 chloride is not recommended. Patients with hypertension, hypokalemia, fluid retention, or cardiovascular disease should take this drug with caution, and those with severe renal impairment should also use this medication carefully. Common side effects may include anemia, constipation, hypertension, nausea, fatigue, and thrombocytopenia, so symptoms should be closely monitored during treatment. Particularly, blood-related adverse reactions such as anemia and thrombocytopenia, as well as neutropenia, often occur, necessitating regular blood tests. In cases of severe hypertension, blood pressure should be controlled prior to treatment and monitored frequently during treatment. Patients with weakened heart function may experience cardiovascular adverse reactions such as heart failure or arrhythmias, so careful monitoring is needed. Liver function impairment may also occur; therefore, routine liver function tests should be conducted before and during treatment, and if liver function deteriorates severely, treatment should be discontinued. There may be an increased risk of infection, so if any infection symptoms appear, the healthcare provider should be notified immediately. There is a risk of thromboembolic events such as pulmonary embolism, requiring prompt assessment and treatment if associated symptoms arise. This medication should be taken at least 2 hours after eating, and eating should be avoided for at least 1 hour after taking it. Due to many drug interactions, any other medications being taken must be discussed with a healthcare provider. Pregnant women, women who might become pregnant, and breastfeeding mothers should not handle or take this medication, and effective contraception is required during and after treatment for a certain period. Safety and efficacy in children have not been established, and no dosage adjustment is required for the elderly. In the case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, and treatment should be given according to symptoms, with caution needed while driving or operating machinery. This medication should be stored out of the reach of children and kept in its original container to maintain quality.
