Blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes and prevention of cardiovascular events
This medication is used in conjunction with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes, as a combination of empagliflozin and metformin. The maximum recommended daily doses for each ingredient do not exceed empagliflozin 25 mg and metformin 2000 mg. - If sufficient blood sugar control is not achieved with metformin alone or with other drugs such as insulin, patients should take empagliflozin 5 mg twice a day (total 10 mg) along with the existing dose of metformin. - Empagliflozin 1

Use should be stopped or approached with caution during unstable physical conditions such as acute infections, heart failure, or pre- and post-surgery.
