Precautions

This medication contains both sitagliptin and metformin and is used in diabetes treatment. First, a serious allergic reaction may occur while taking this medication, so if symptoms such as skin rash, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or neck appear, you must immediately discontinue use and consult a physician. Second, acute pancreatitis may occur, so if symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, or fever arise, you should notify healthcare personnel immediately. Third, metformin may occasionally cause a serious metabolic disorder called lactic acidosis, so if experiencing sudden difficulty breathing, muscle pain, fatigue, or abdominal pain, you must immediately stop taking the medication and go to the hospital. Fourth, this medication should not be taken when kidney function is poor, and regular kidney function tests must be performed. Fifth, patients with certain conditions, such as severe infections, dehydration, heart failure, liver dysfunction, or women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, should not take this medication. Sixth, regular meals and appropriate exercise should be maintained while taking this medication, and care should be taken as hypoglycemia may occur. Seventh, the risk of hypoglycemia may increase when taken with other blood glucose-lowering agents or insulin, so medication dosage should be adjusted according to a physician's instructions. Eighth, if surgery or contrast-enhanced tests are planned, consult your physician to possibly temporarily discontinue the medication. Ninth, excessive alcohol consumption should be avoided while taking this medication, especially as alcohol can increase the risk of lactic acidosis. Finally, regular blood tests and kidney function tests should be conducted while taking this medication to ensure safe treatment.
