Improvement of blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes
This medication is used for patients with type 2 diabetes to help control blood sugar levels more effectively when combined with dietary and exercise regimens. Sitagliptin and metformin work together to improve blood sugar levels, thus providing positive effects for ongoing treatment.
This medication is generally taken twice a day with food, and the dose should be gradually increased to minimize gastrointestinal side effects caused by metformin. The initial dose is determined based on the patient's current treatment regimen. 1. For patients not previously treated with metformin: Start with 1 tablet of 50/500 mg twice a day, and it can be increased to 50/1000 mg. 2. For patients already on metformin: 1 day
This medication consists of sitagliptin and metformin and is used in the treatment of diabetes. Additionally, this medication may cause severe inflammation of the pancreas known as pancreatitis. If symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting, or nausea occur, immediately inform medical personnel. The metformin component may cause lactic acidosis, a rare metabolic complication, associated with symptoms such as muscle pain, difficulty breathing, fatigue, and abdominal pain. If such symptoms arise, immediately discontinue the medication and go to the hospital. Patients with severely impaired kidney function, acute infection, dehydration, heart failure, or liver dysfunction should not use this medication, and patients scheduled for surgery should also stop taking it for a period of time.
