It is designed to effectively manage blood sugar while adhering to dietary and exercise regimens; it is used to reliably improve blood sugar levels.

How to take

Adult dose

This drug is typically administered once daily with the evening meal, with the 20/1000 mg extended-release tablet being taken once daily at a single dose of one tablet. The 10/750 mg or 10/500 mg extended-release tablets are taken once daily at a single dose of two tablets at the same time. The initial dosage should include teneligliptin 20 mg once daily along with the existing metformin dosing. The maximum recommended daily dose is teneligliptin 20 mg and extended-release metformin.

Precautions

This drug is used for the treatment of diabetes and rarely can cause a serious metabolic complication known as lactic acidosis, so caution is needed. It should not be used in patients with moderate to severe renal impairment or in states such as heart failure, acute myocardial infarction, or sepsis. Before undergoing tests that use radiologic iodine contrast agents, this drug should be stopped at least 48 hours prior and can be resumed only after confirming normal kidney function. Patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis and those with hypersensitivity to this drug's components should also avoid its use. It is recommended to temporarily stop taking this drug in patients undergoing surgery or those with severe infections or traumatic injuries and to restart once their condition is stabilized. The risk of hypoglycemia may increase when this drug is used in conjunction with other diabetic medications, so one should be well aware of the symptoms and management of hypoglycemia. Patients with severe liver dysfunction or excessive alcohol consumption should also avoid taking this drug. Regular monitoring of kidney function and blood tests should be performed during treatment, with particular attention to elderly patients regarding renal function decline. It is recommended that women who are pregnant or potentially pregnant, as well as nursing mothers, do not use this drug. If severe abdominal pain, vomiting, difficulty breathing, muscle pain, or weakness occur during treatment, immediate medical attention should be sought, as these could be signs of lactic acidosis or acute pancreatitis. This drug should be kept out of the reach of children, and it is safe not to transfer it to another container. In case of overdose, immediate medical attention should be sought, and dialysis may be required. Additionally, interactions may occur with other medications taken concurrently, so it is essential to consult with healthcare providers about all medications being taken.
